Sailor shorts

I made shorts this time.

I have wanted to make sailor shorts like these for the longest time. There have been many of these models in Burda through the years but for some reason I picked what I think is the latest one, Sailor Shorts Pattern at BurdaStyle, #123 from June 2014. It turned out to be a good choice because the pattern and construction are interesting and the outcome is darling. Might need slight adjustments for the gaping in the back but that's my usual problem and I just didn't bother to fix it as I went. Otherwise --it's such a pretty piece.

I used a nicely heavy cotton denim and a contracting fabric for facings and side panels. The choice was not carefully thought through, though, as the contrast fabric is way too thin. I will need to use some backing for it the next time I make this pattern --and I'm pretty sure I will.

I made these shorts based on Sailor Shorts Pattern at BurdaStyle Burda pattern and used fabrics bought locally.

Tym razem uszyłam sobie szorty.

Od dawna miałam na oku modele tego typu czyli z wysokim stanem i marynarskim zapięciem. W Burdzie przewijają się od kilkudziesięciu lat w różnych wersjach - ja wybrałam tę ostatnią, Sailor Shorts Pattern at BurdaStyle, #123 z czerwca 2014. Nie była to najgorsza decyzja, głównie dlatego, że to po prostu ciekawy wykrój i fajnie było pogłówkować, jak to uszyć. Instrukcje Burdy są legendarne ze względu na to, jak bardzo są niezrozumiałe i zwykle ich nie czytam. Jeśli to nieopatrznie zrobię, jak tym razem, to zdaje mi się, że żyłam do tej pory w rzeczywistości o mniejszej ilości wymiarów i jest to bardzo niekomfortowe uczucie, szczególnie, że wyobraźnię przestrzenną mam dobrą i źle mi, kiedy okazuje się, że jednak nie dość. Przygoda, przygoda.

No, ale przecież uszyłam. Spodenki mają wstawki z kontrastowego materiału, napy zamiast guzików i parę głupich błędów w konstrukcji, bo chciałam być mądrzejsza niż projektant wykroju. Nic to! Kiedyś się nauczę.
