A Bit of Winter&Granny's Wardrobe

Finally some snow is here, and at the same time the weather is pleasantly not too freezing. That called for me wearing some white on white and since I've recently came in posession of this cute knit cardi, I thought I'd give it a try and match it with the dress that I'd made last summer (you've seen it here before). It's nice to wear your summer wardrobe in winter, or more precisely through all the seasons. I made this dress in August, wore it through Autumn and now it's making a come back in Winter. I bet I'll be wearing it this Spring, too. It's just so easy to layer! Two layers of tights (I wear black underneath for deepen the colour of the outside layer), a nice, warm sweater, a big scarf and I'm good to go. Do you shift your summer pieces to other seasons, too?

The cardigan I'm wearing is another thing from my Grandma's closet that I've dug out recently and couldn't really understand why it was kept hidden away. As you may remember from my last post about Granny's wardrobe, she used to be a professional knitter. This lovely number is obviously of her production. It's currently in need of new buttons because I'm guessing the original ones were cut off and fitted to something else that was getting more wear (make do and mend all the rage here!)

As I said, I'm not sure why this cardi was tucked away in some forgotten corner. It practically looks unused. Maybe Granny made it for someone who didn't fancy it enough? (Thank god! Now I get to love it!) The curious thing is, there is another beautiful knit sweater, made of the same yarn as this one, I'd found one along with the other. Granny says she can't remember. Mystery Wardrobe!

Wystarczy opanować ubieranie siÄ™ warstwami i wszystko Å›wietnie dziaÅ‚a.

  1. Your Grandma has an amazing taste, as you!! What a lovely white cardigan! I've always loved white cardigan in winter...they are so bright.
And love your dress too!! I rarely shift my summer pieces to winter, but your choice's worth it...love your outfit! I'll take the season shifting into consideration for the future...

    1. Thank you, dear! I wonder how you would style your beautiful dress --the first one you've made --for winter! It seemed to me like a perfect piece for layering. If you ever style do it, I'm anxious to see :).

  2. I love that you're able to shop in your grandma's closet - so fun and cute! I have a few things from my grandmother's closet as well as my mother's old concert tees and it's so fun to give them new life!

  6. What an amazing cardigan, a shame nobody got to wear it in all these years. Maybe it was waiting for you ;-)
And I love how you style your summer dresses in Winter. Brings a little colour into the grey :-)
(and to answer your mail: Thank you for the link to the Lutterloh-Sew-Along. I don't think I will participate, at the moment I don't feel like optimizing a blouse pattern but want to realize some of the projects that lurk in my head. But I will follow and see how it works, surely I can learn a lot)
